{"id":56,"date":"2019-07-18T11:21:59","date_gmt":"2019-07-18T11:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/designislife.co.za\/FreePort\/?page_id=56"},"modified":"2022-08-25T10:34:06","modified_gmt":"2022-08-25T08:34:06","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/designislife.co.za\/FreePort\/about-us\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Freeport Saldanha is the first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedtic.gov.za\/sectors-and-services-2\/industrial-development\/special-economic-zones\/\">Special Economic Zone (SEZ)<\/a> to be located within a port and is the only sector-specific SEZ in South Africa catering specifically to the oil and gas, maritime fabrication and repair industries and related support services.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone Licencing Company SOC Ltd (SBIDZ-LC), trading as Freeport Saldanha, was awarded an operator\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s license on 31 October 2013, marking the formal beginning of our 30-year journey to create a vibrant hub of opportunity, job creation and sustainable growth, utilising the special economic zone (SEZ) legislation as a catalyst.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/designislife.co.za\/FreePort\/investor-zone\/freeport-operations\/\">Our superb location<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0at the southernmost tip of Africa, in the largest and deepest (23m draught) natural port in the southern hemisphere means that we are the perfect place to accommodate and service a wide range of vessels. We are ideally situated to service East and West African sea traffic, providing a linkage point for both African and international market.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Freeport Saldanha, as the name suggests, operates as a freeport with streamlined investor procedures supported by our <a href=\"https:\/\/designislife.co.za\/FreePort\/investor-zone\/ease-of-doing-business\/\">Ease of Doing Business model<\/a>.
